Communications Coordinator

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Compensation: $26.25 per hour, Non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives

Essential Functions: The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives to create effective communications and graphic elements in support of the organization. It requires consistent hands-on work to identify and meet organizational needs. A high priority is placed on balancing the needs of effective messaging, reaching diverse audiences, and growing Out Boulder County’s overall communications reach. This position will frequently collaborate with events, development, and program staff.

  • Responsible for the design and content development for website, social media, and email newsletters.

    • Work with all staff to collect stories and information for Out Boulder County’s email newsletters.

    • Support the graphic design needs across the organization, ensuring all external communications are branded correctly.

    • Manage and monitor all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and LinkedIn, and keep current on industry trends and best practices for existing and emerging platforms.

  • In collaboration with the Special Events and Programs teams and with support from the Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, work to ensure that all events and program offerings are promoted effectively.

  • Support the achievement of development goals through graphic design and other communications functions in collaboration with fundraising and development staff.

  • Support communications related to key strategic initiatives and emerging organizational needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Ability to work some nights and weekends (evening groups and organizational events)

  • Familiarity with website CMS, social media platforms, Constant Contact or other email marketing systems, Adobe Creative Suite and/or other graphic design tools, Microsoft Office Programs, and Google Ads

  • Ability to work at the computer for 3-4 hours at a time, manage interruptions

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Experience with the nonprofit sector and the LGBTQ+ community is strongly preferred

  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills strongly preferred
