Safe and Proud: Increased COVID Precautions Advised as Cases Surge Nationwide

Experts anticipate a surge of COVID-19 cases in the first few weeks of 2024. Not only does holiday travel increase infection rates, but a new variant is responsible for as much as an 80% increase of cases over a month’s time in places like Los Angeles County.

In the last 6 months, Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment has documented over 1 in 100 Coloradans contracting COVID-19. This does not include at home rapid tests and those who went undiagnosed or unreported.

Protecting yourself, your family, and your community from COVID-19 can take several forms.

  • Order at home COVID-19 rapid tests at: https://special.usps.com/testkits. Out Boulder County offers COVID-19 rapid tests for free at our Boulder & Fort Collins offices. Please drop by or contact us to get tests for your loved ones.

  • Masks are offered at Out Boulder County’s Boulder & Fort Collins offices for free. If you need them for yourself, your family, or a community space, please drop by or contact us.

  • Air purifiers reduce the viral load in the air. If you are the steward of a community space, consider installing HEPA filters wherever possible to ensure accessibility and safety in your space. Community members can construct Corsi-Rosenthal boxes, a DIY box fan air filter, to help reduce the viral load in their own homes

  • Get the new COVID-19 vaccine designed to protect against the current subtypes of COVID. Visit www.vaccines.gov or www.outboulder.org/vaccines to learn more.
